About Us

Bob (pictured below at North Kaibab Trailhead, Grand Canyon during large storm)

Bob is hiker-dude extraordinare. He was beckoned by the Canyon Gods over 10 years ago when on a road trip across country. He soon moved to Flagstaff, and began a long career of Grand Canyon hiking.  During this time, he covered thousands of miles and had some crazy adventures like:  floating across the Colorado on a blow-up mattress to hike a remote area normally inaccessible to hikers, route finding as a solo-hiker, rowing up a class 4 Grand Canyon rapid 232 to save the celebratory bottle of whiskey, and many more. It seems that every Grand Canyon trip is an amazing adventure with Bob and his expertise around. This aspect of his personality worked well for him when he became a hiking guide in 2002.  Early in the summer of 2007, when discussing the possibility of going on a hiking adventure, he remebered his dream of thru-hiking the AZT.  And here we go!

Molly (pictured below showing off her "dorkus malorkus" look on the North Rim)

Molly fell in love with Arizona during college, while living in Flagstaff during the summers. She quickly moved to Arizona with her degree in Southwest Studies, and began to lead guided hikes at the Grand Canyon National Park, where she accrued nearly 2000 miles of Canyon exploration. During the winters, she worked at the Flagstaff Nordic Center, leading snowshoe tours and working in the lodge and along the trails. Her snowhoe tours made it into the Arizona Highways Magazine, Jan 2006, as part of a story on snowplay in Arizona. In her spare time she would play in wild Arizona. Some of her best times occured during these adventures. From the annual Thanksgiving "Diamond Down" rafting trips on the Colorado to her wedding with Bob at the bottom of the Grand Canyon in 2005 to the two-week long backpack trip of remote western Grand Canyon in the winter of 2006. That 100 mile route was her first semi-long distance hike, and since that magical experience she has been longing to experience more long-distance hikes in the backcountry.

Where are they now? (picture of Bob and Molly's 16 foot boat)

Bob and Molly moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2006 to pursue a dream of cruising about the globe. They are currently outfitting a 1964 Tartan 27 sailboat, but Arizona remains their hailing port.
